You don’t have to make a trip to the post office or buy stamps. You don’t have to file a copy of the bill. Paper billing not only costs time, it can cost extra money. About a quarter of Americans pay our bills late–and have to pay late fees–because we can’t find our bills, according to a poll by Harris Interactive.
–For the hoarders out there who kept every electric bill since 1964, good news. You can now shred all those boxes of old bills and take back the closet in your spare room. About 80 percent of the papers we file are never used again, according to the Small Business Administration. And with epayment, when you do need a record of a payment, the information is available online.
