The best companies will offer to show you how their online billing system works. It takes me about 15 minutes to do a demo of our system for prospective customers. During the demo, I walk them through the workflow, show how the online system will look to their customers and show how bills are approved and sent out to customers. A demo is like taking a car out for a test drive. You will see how smoothly the system drives, decide if you like how it looks and feels and explore all its features. And, of course, ask a lot of questions.
In order to set up a system that works for your company, a professional transactional company will ask you to complete a business requirement document (BRD). This document collects all the information needed to create the online website for your
billing system. The information the BRD provides makes it much easier for your transactional company to set up your system without a lot of back and forth with your team. Filling out the BRD will be easy for you because it is information that is at your fingertips. For example, the number of bills you send, the billing cycle, who the bill is being sent from and names, email addresses and username of your staff who will use the system.
